Q: What do I need to do to show my horse with Hillary or Courtney?
A: If you want to show with Hillary Carlson or Courtney Carlson, you must...
- Have your horse schooled twice a month at a minimum
- Learn schooling ring etiquette
- Be responsible!
- Know what classes you are in
- Know where you are in the order and/or wgere HC/CC needs you to be
- Know what tack is required for the horse you are riding and have it correctly set
- Make sure you are wearing, or have with you, the correct and complete riding attire:
- gloves
- hat
- collar
- jacket
- spurs
- stick
- back number!
- Arrive at the show grounds early enough to check your show ring for your order of go, tack up your horse or have your groom do so, gather all equipment needed and check with HC/CC for last-minute instructions
- Be at the shooling ring on time
- Keep HC/CC (or your groom/other staff) informed of the progress in your ring or if there are any conflicts or problems
- Make arrangements to have your horse tacked and brought to the ring in conflicts arise
- Have someone available to hold your horse while you walk and/or learn the course, etc.
- Check your horse's hay, water, and stall condition MULTIPLE times throughout the day if YOU are not on full care and are managing your horse's daycare
- Parents, make sure your child is ready, has all equipment and is at the ring on time
- Please make an effort to watch fellow barn mates show their horses. They will appreciate your support and... You just might learn something!
- Make sure you are taking at least 2 lessons a week at a minimum. If you have to miss a lessonm you must make it up.
Q: I'm boarding my horse at Wingate Stables, LLC. Can I put a fan in my horse's stall? Will I be charged?
A: Fans are allowed in the stalls and are subject to a $15/month (per fan) charge to cover the cost of electricity. You must provide your own fan.
